Join our team as a Union Journeyman Carpenter! In this role, you will play a crucial part in the construction process by handling a variety of carpentry tasks that include:
• Completing rough carpentry work, site logistical tasks, fencing, and deck/platform building.
• Erecting scaffolding and ladders as necessary.
• Installing structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, flooring, trim, and hardware.
• Collaborating with superintendents and foremen to coordinate construction activities.
• Estimating and managing materials, time, and equipment needed for project completion.
• Operating various construction equipment, including forklifts, backhoes, skid steers, excavators, and compactors.
• Ensuring compliance with safety standards and participating in daily safety plans.
• Conducting tool inspections to maintain safety and functionality.
• Fostering positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Demonstrating flexibility to travel, as well as accommodate night and weekend work as required.
This position comes with an hourly rate of $56.71 in accordance with the union agreement, with benefits determined by the applicable Trade Union. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision coverage, and additional financial and wellness perks.
Qualifications:
• Valid union card.
• A minimum of three (3) years of carpentry experience is required.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Basic knowledge of construction surveying.
• Ability to interpret and understand project drawings.
• Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and tools.
• Basic arithmetic and geometry skills applicable to carpentry.
• Understanding of machines and tools relevant to carpentry and woodworking.
• Strong ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication skills, especially during emergencies.
Physical Demands: The physical tasks associated with this position include standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs and potentially more), climbing, bending, and working in various conditions including heights and confined spaces. Work Environment: You'll regularly work on-site at construction locations, exposed to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and noise from construction equipment. Compliance with safety policies and procedures is essential.
