Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Skilled Carpenter to support reconstruction efforts for our clients. The ideal candidate will have significant carpentry experience and be capable of working independently with minimal supervision. You will assist BELFOR Estimators with project scope development and manage projects autonomously. As a Skilled Carpenter, you will contribute to the growth of entry-level carpenters. Key development objectives include: 1) expanding project capabilities from residential to commercial and multi-family sectors; 2) leading and executing emergency services; and 3) enhancing knowledge of materials and various carpentry disciplines including framing, cabinetry, and trim. This role represents level 3 in our Progressive Carpenter track.
Responsibilities
• Identify potential project issues and proactively seek guidance when needed.
• Address general inquiries regarding the project, directing more complex questions to the appropriate personnel.
• Safely move and protect project contents to avoid damage.
• Construct suitable containment to manage dust and contaminants in the work environment.
• Utilize tools and BELFOR-approved methods for tasks such as floodcutting, salvaging, and labeling items.
• Complete shrink wrap training and successfully execute four shrink wrap projects.
• Establish the ability to recognize different insulation types, their thicknesses, and R-values.
• Apply skills and knowledge related to trim, doors, cabinetry, insulation, rough framing, acoustical ceilings, roofing materials, and exterior siding to daily tasks.
• Execute daily vehicle safety and maintenance checks and keep vehicles clean and in good working order.
• Maintain a strong attention to detail.
• Adhere to BELFOR standards for property safeguarding.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices.
• Work effectively under time constraints to meet project deadlines.
• Be flexible to work nights and weekends as necessary and be open to occasional travel.
• Accurately report hours worked and materials used on time.
• Participate in BELFOR-sponsored operational and safety training as required.
Requirements
• Supervise unskilled labor, entry-level BELFOR employees, and subcontractors in residential settings.
• Address basic project questions, knowing when to refer complex inquiries to more experienced personnel.
• Maintain equipment used in daily tasks.
• Perform emergency services as required, including board-ups and securing buildings to prevent further damage.
• Complete any other assigned duties as necessary.
